Forever now known as Tory Salmon. By the time I hooked one he had hooked over ten and brought four to the bank. The Lower Klamath is fishing well as we saw some nice chrome bright ass kicking steelhead and some monster kings. I brought everything I needed to get into those famed half pounders, but we couldn’t find them.
She is ablaze and seemingly irreverent.

You would think there would be an effect as she burns upriver. As choppers lifted buckets of her clean glacial waters to drop on charred forest, mayflies emerged through a floating layer of ash into an apocalyptic world of strange beauty. We strolled out for a morning fishing session from Ash camp and when we returned to the cars the camp ground was empty. A forest service employee came down and politely asked us to vacate due to a wild fire closing in. So we packed up and went to the Upper Sac.

Its time for some of the big bows to be caught. Aug. Sept and Oct. can be some of the best big fish fishing of the year on the Sacramento river. The water is still up high and we love fishing the caddis hatches at theses flows.

The McCloud river kept us busy this last week. She has been fishing well. Lots of smaller fish looking up for dries, and yet another big brown comes to the net. This one was just under 23″. Lots of Photos here, Check em out!
