McCloud River Dry Fly July
The last couple weeks we have been giving excellent guide trips on the McCloud. The vast majority of the fish have been caught on the dry fly. After a dozen years of guiding this river we know where to be when and it is paying off.

They’re here! Hundreds of little fish are gobbling down these monster stoneflys and a few summer steelhead are adding quite a bit of excitement to a wonderful day casting dryflys from the boat.

We have been very busy fishing the McCloud River and it has been a lot of fun. Great hatches, big fish, beautiful scenery what more could we want?
Fantastic Father/Daughter dry fly fishing
Two days in a row I had fantastic dry fly fishing with father daughters trips. The McCloud loves woman fly fishers and always gives them the biggest fish.
6.8.12 Green Drakes on the McCloud
Perhaps my favorite hatch is our Green Drake hatch. They don’t come off by the millions like the Frying Pan but what these McCloud River bows will do for that bug is unreal. Truly magical dry fly fishing all day long.

I simply love guiding with dry flies all day long and am getting pretty good keeping up with the constant changes in preferences between Yellow Sallies, PMDs, Drakes and Stones. Happy Memorial Day
We celebrated Memorial Day on the McCloud by conquering some German and Scottish Browns. A symbolic gesture of our respect to battles won and lost before. Happy Memorial Day!

What a beautiful day out on the McCloud with Rob and Michelle. With good hatches and plenty of my favorite drakes, fishing was pretty good.
Opening Weekend 2012
Trout Season is open and the McCloud River welcomed us with some great fishing. It was really cool to be back out on the river that we love so much. This annual outing is something we look forward to every year. Thanks so much for having us guys!!!

The weather man said it would rain. I’ve been wet everyday for a week but today was beautiful blue skies and fresh snow on the peaks. Sunscreen and steelhead.

Steelhead fishing in Southern Oregon has been pretty fun this last week, with fowl weather and high flows bringing in some fish. It hasn’t been easy by any means but we have been finding them. Check out this great collection of photos from the week.
