You would think there would be an effect as she burns upriver. As choppers lifted buckets of her clean glacial waters to drop on charred forest, mayflies emerged through a floating layer of ash into an apocalyptic world of strange beauty. Those that were too cautious were eaten by streaks of rainbows and browns. The balance was surreal.

Difficult to accept the benefits of a natural burn with the implicit losses of ash and runoff and charred beauty. Map today shows the burn down to the river from Ash Camp to close to the Preserve. Thanks for the historical photos, let’s remain optimistic (as usual) fly fishers.
Looking forward to your book. Sure glad you did the photos when you did them.
