6.1-4.10 Four days of foul weather and Green Drakes!
Categories: Fishing Report
John came off an extremely busy schedule to recharge and revitalize whilst catching some trout. The weather was foul all four days and the fishing remained constant. I’ll say good fishing indeed. The Green Drakes allowed us to fish dries 10:1 over nymphs. Fun Fun Fun and WET!
Day One on the McCloud was nice weather, some drizzle and threats of rain but enough sunshine to pop the PMDs.
Rainbows were of healthy size and full of fight.
Day Two was a hike, but we got to fish seldom visited spots on Squaw Valley Creek. It rained all day but small periods of small hatches throughout the day kept things interesting.
Both Brows and Rainbows slammed our dry fly and corked our three weights.
Day Three on the classic stretch above Ash Camp. Rainbows in the rain.
Day Four on the Preserve, the fish were looking up sipping PMDs and slamming the Drakes. It rained hard all day, very fun but cold and wet. I need a new jacket.
My favorite guide days are those when it feels like you just made a friend. John you are a good man.
