Spending a warm winter day casting shooting heads and big flies with the prospect of a large striper each strip. My boat is at Cuttings Wharf on the Napa River for the winter.

Fish were again looking up. We caught some nice Smallmouth Bass. The weather was more than cooperative and a good swim was all it took to cool down.
In this boat, I will be referred to as “captain”.
A great evening of Smallmouth Bass Fishing. The hex came out towards dark but it was all about the poppers before the hatch.
I should push these trips more. They are a hoot. Bass fishing early in the morning with the sun rising behind Shasta with Ron Vanderheiden and Lindsay Archer.
I believe in catch n’ release, but…when you have two chefs from Chez Panisse, Pauly Porcini with a freshly foraged bunch of porcini mushrooms and a bbq on the boat….Well?
Siskiyou got its week of heat sparking some ravenous smallmouth bass fishing. POPPERS!!! just like when I was a kid. Anne had a brilliant day, big fish after big fish for 2 solid hours. I’ll take ya there.
Starting this summer I will offer bass trips aboard my Boston Whaler.
