Big Fish on big flies, yet another fine day on the McCloud River Preserve with Michael Powelson from the Nature Conservancy and his comrade Chris.
The sunshine really helped the McCloud as it sparked great hatches of PMDs, Green Drakes, Caddis, Golden Stones and Salmon Flies. The best fishing was mid afternoon and late evening. Fish are definitely spreading out, finding their spot, and looking up.
Golden Stones are everywhere!!! but cold lethargic and waiting on warmer days. oh yeah, AGRHH!!! @#$!ing son of a $&@!%

Today, my good friend and client for 8 years said my motto should be “I cater to dry fly fishermen”.

From 1-4 be ready to catch some great fish on dries. Fishing was great during the afternoon as pmd’s, and gray drakes were popping.
The McCloud was in great form on Opening Weekend. The fishing was marvelous and I think its only going to get better.

Big rainbows on the Upper Sac. Spotted hundreds, hooked dozens and landed some monster rainbows.
