Last few weeks I’ve been on the river. Sick with Steelhead fever. No matter how many I farmed, caught, or photographed I still couldn’t shake the virus. Now recent rains have brought the end of the season. This fish, a highlight, ate a swung fly just after dawn.
Tory and I fished a river that was way to high. In search of some silver lightning….
Many days of scouting water and rolling dice on river conditions pays off with a beautiful fish. Truly a fish of a thousand casts. Andy and I had an epic… most of the fish we hooked we couldn’t handle… I don’t know if Ive ever seen fish so HOT and hard to catch up with.
Tory and I treated ourselves to a day with the famous Mike Hibbard. I use to guide the Trinity and Mike showed me everything I know, it was so great to be in his boat on a working day. We fished our asses off, with no other boats around!!! What a treat!!! We saw some [...]
Kim and Selena were determined and gave a good hard effort all day despite the 21 degree morning. We had to scrub every spot for that elusive winter steelhead. Finally, with only two more spots to try, “Set that!” Five fish in a row! Some days she makes you work for it.
Day Two. Lets all go fishing on the Rogue! Wild Waters Fly Fishing is putting a lot of focus on the Rogue River for 2012. We wanted to introduce the Orvis store managers to a great year-round fishery. Two days in a row without seeing any other anglers.
Amber and I had the pleasure of fishing with guide Jon Geyer of Medford. The conditions were perfect. We had a terrific time, and I caught a couple of Steelhead just a few miles from the ocean.
Andy and I headed down river toward Happy Camp, CA. It added an extra hour to our drive for the day. We fished some awesome water, found some awesome fish, and we didn’t see another boat. Check out the pics…….
2 days with 2 guides…..blah blah blah… Thats 2 steelhead in the net!!!
