Wild Waters Fly Fishing Weekly Report.

Wild Waters Fly Fishing had an amazing week on the McCloud River last week. The fishing has been good to great with some big fish showing up. The days are the longest of the year with over 14 hours of available light. The dry fly has still been the technique of choice but we will be switching up a bit as some bigger fish are showing up. Northern California and Southern Oregon’s rivers and lakes are at their all time best. Our bass lakes are exploding, and make for an amazing half day.  When the wind doesn’t blow. Major bugs to note are the Hexagenia, PMDs, Yellow Sallies and Golden Stones.

•The Lower Sacramento = Very Good. Fishing has remained good despite heat and windy days and a drift is highly recommended. Try a half day!

•The Trinity River = Good, flows back down to 700.

•The Upper Sacramento River =Good. Water is very low and already warming. Fishing is good but tread lightly.

•The McCloud River =Excellent. Some great dry fly fishing and shallow nymphing. We have been seeing plenty of golden stones, yellow sallies, pmds, and a few green drakes and salmonflies.

•The Klamath River =Good. The Salmonfly hatch is winding down but fish are looking for them. Drift Boat trip up top is your best option. Half days are the way to go.

• The Pit River = Good. Pit 3,4&5 producing nice fish in the tough to access areas.

• Hat Creek = Just OK. Some tough days.

• The Fall River = Good, Hex are in full swing, wind has made things tough but the hatches are good and the bite on when it subsides.

•The Rogue River =Very Good. Fishing the Holy Water and the Shady Cove stretches has been great. The Salmonflys winding down but some fish are still looking for them. Sea-run cutthroat and steelhead.

•The Wood River = Just OK. Never seen it so low.

•Bass Ponds and Lakes= Great popper action, with a good chance at a hex hatch at dark when its not windy.
